In November, our hometown suffered from a massive fire burning through almost 100,000 acres in just a few days. Though our home was not directly impacted, my office building was surrounded by the blaze and several friends found themselves evacuated for an extended duration of time.
Much of the area that burned included trails that I run on every week. In fact, I was out on them just two days prior. I put together this quick video from my first trip back to the trails showing both the utter devastation but also nature’s attempt to rebuild with fresh growth popping up all around.
This experience also prompted Audrey and me to become American Red Cross volunteers and we served a couple shifts during the fire to support those who needed it. If that’s something you’d be interested in, here’s a link to their volunteer sign-up page.
