Why Stair Workouts Matter

We all may not want to admit it, but stairs can be one of the best ways to get in shape out there! For some people this physically isn’t an option (those under specific doctor’s orders), for others it’s often the last choice in the myriad of physical fitness options available today. And for good reason: they’re brutal!

But here’s what I love about them:

  1. You can take them at your own pace. You don’t have to fly up them!
  2. You can find them almost anywhere. When was the last time you traveled for work and stayed at a 1-story hotel…seriously?
  3. They build muscles like a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout.
  4. They cross-train for trail running and cycling really well!

So yesterday I decided to take on some infamous local stairs where many Angelinos come to test their mettle. Here’s how I did:
