I know, I know, it’s February. This was supposed to happen in January when everyone else is making resolutions and setting out plans for the year. I’ve been pretty unsuccessfully rehabbing a lingering knee issue from November, which, excuses aside has been really hindering my ability to make plans for the year. The fact of the matter is, I’d love to enter all kinds of races right now but I can barely run five miles before I’m hobbling around for days. It’s NOT fun!
I’ve now seen one doctor, undergone five weeks of physical therapy, a month of rest (with only 10-15 miles total ran) and have scheduled to see an orthopedic surgeon on Wednesday of this week to review next steps. I’m totally stumped and hoping this doc can figure it out (have you had knee issues? Would love to hear about your stories in the comments!).
In the meantime, I’ve been crushing the gym and pool to try to keep up my fitness. Every session I seem to be getting faster and faster in the water, which is incredible! This definitely balances out the challenges I’m having running.
My wife and I just got back from Australia. An incredible trip which I’ll recap in a separate post. I’m home for a week then out to Barcelona on a work trip for a week! It’ll be a whirlwind trip but I’m hoping to get out and explore a bit (run) and find a pool I can get some laps done in.
When I return, it’s GAME ON! Two weeks Down Under gave me a lot of time to think about this year and the focus I’ll need to make the most of it. Let’s get it!
