New kid on the block

As crazy as it sounds, it’s true. This is a relatively new venture for me. I grew up racing motorcycles and after taking a very sober look at what’s important in life, shifted my focus to endurance sports.

Now this is an awesome way to share my journey through the world of multisport!

Doing it for the ‘Gram

Ten years ago it would’ve been considered highly unusual to spend a significant amount of time each week capturing and sharing your fitness workouts virtually with others. Between strength training, running, trail running, cycling and swimming, I train six days a week and capture all of it on Instagram and Twitter via my handle @slkeene.

At some point I started adding the phrase, “Crush It Zone” to my Instagram stories and it stuck! Every time I lace up, suit up, or roll up my sleeves, I’m entering a place where anything is possible and every step gets me closer to being my best.

Based in Los Angeles

Swim? Bike? Run? In L.A. you can train 365 days a year among some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the country. After several years in Florida, we recently settled back into life on the west coast.

My biggest challenge is choosing how much time to dedicate to each because there really aren’t enough hours in the day!

In November of 2017 I completed my first marathon thanks to a sponsorship by Michelob Ultra. A finishing time of 3:19:46, I couldn’t be more proud to have experienced this bucket list race!

In August of 2018, I completed the Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier ocean race, finishing with a time of 57:07 (2-miles), improving 23 minutes over last year’s race time and a placement of 211th out of the best swimmers in Los Angeles!

Last December I raced my first half Ironman at Indian Wells finishing in 4:57:49.

Currently I’m training for the Los Angeles Marathon in March. It’ll be my second go at the distance and first time on my home course!
