Progress is progress, no matter how small. Dealing with another stressful week (aren’t we all), scared of failure (the usual), but determined to see it through. Despite taking extra rest between the hard segments, this overall was a success. Progress. There is no failure when you keep at it- and that’s something I’m working on.
.
It’s so easy to compare yourself to last month, last season, last year- or to your friends or other athletes. But if you’re giving the best you have on that day, it’s all that matters. Another step forward. Believe. The best is yet to come.
.
Quality Session long run:
2 mile up (7:10- what an idiot 🤦🏻‍♂️)
3 miles at goal 6:43 (actual 6:30 avg)
0.5 mile easy
3 x 1 mile at goal 6:20 (6:22, 6:16, 6:01) with 2 minute recovery jog
2 miles down (6:57-still an idiot 🤦🏻‍♂️)
.
11.3 miles total, followed by 1.6 with my wife and best friend, 12.9 on the day.
.
Whether it’s terrible pacing (see:warm-up), mental fatigue (extra rest when maybe I didn’t need to), or actual physical fatigue- I don’t know. My perfectionist monologue says that I failed because it wasn’t continuous. But does it actually matter today? Probably not. Fitness was gained, and that’s what counts. You don’t get to where you want to be in one workout. So we keep building, brick by brick. 🧱 🧱 🧱 .

Whether you crushed a new PR (see: @homewiththeboys - I’m one proud husband), struggled through easy miles, or took a rest day- know that it’s a process, and it’s ok. Stay positive, and keep moving forward. We’ve got miles to go. 👊🏻🔥💪🏻

#CrushItZone Challenge Wristbands (2pk)

$1.00

This past fall, I led a series of runs with Lululemon and one evening had the idea to bring glow necklaces for runners to wear. It was a HUGE hit and after noticing many runners wrapping their wrists with the glowing tubes, it occurred to me that a simple wristband could be an awesome #CrushItZone item! Bonus if it could glow in the dark.

About the same time, Audrey asked if I had considered a challenge to start off 2019. Immediately I started thinking of something super complex where points were scored for doing certain activities, but scaled it back to: set a goal for yourself and know that there’s a community cheering you on!

This is how these wristbands came to be. Simple and pairs really well with any smart watch for daily use. It serves as a reminder that we can have big goals and achieve them by showing up and putting in our best!
