So...playing catch-up today. This may be a long one!! First, definitely disappointed about Boston. We knew it was coming, but it still stinks.
.
Second, update on the last four runs (man, I should really be better about posting...)
βœ… Thursday (today)- 9.1 easy around Standing Bear Lake
βœ… Wednesday- 9.1 easy, broken up into 5 and 4.1 mile chunks in-between multiple Zoom meetings. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
βœ… Tuesday- due to the rain 🌧 , I did some ridiculous treadmill speedwork πŸ”₯. Good: managed not to fly off the treadmill while going at max speed 😈 (12.0 mph, 5:00 pace). Bad: 6 x 0.25 mile, followed by 5 x 1:00 all at that speed is not pleasant 😳. But I didn’t die ☠️. 9ish miles total.
βœ… Monday- 8 easy while on β€œvacation”: a socially distanced visit with the in-laws. This run involved running near a river, after which my face and neck were covered with dead gnats. Gross. 😝
.
Work has just been stressful, as we navigate this new reality of trying to balance telehealth πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» and in-person πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈ clinic visits, new payment models, a major grant application, and thinking about whether I’m doing enough for academic promotion in the coming years. There’s a lot going on.
.
But that’s life, right? That’s what we’re all facing. We all have πŸ’© that we’re struggling with. Whether it be figuring out how to help your kids through remote learning- our oldest started virtual summer school already this week; dealing with the existential crisis of what life is like moving forward; having no races to train for; maybe you’re even worried about whether you have a job- just remember this: KEEP MOVING FORWARD, and try to find the good and the fun somewhere each day.
.
It’s good advice for running and for life. I hope you find some joy today as well, friends. ❀️

#CrushItZone Challenge Wristbands (2pk)

$1.00

This past fall, I led a series of runs with Lululemon and one evening had the idea to bring glow necklaces for runners to wear. It was a HUGE hit and after noticing many runners wrapping their wrists with the glowing tubes, it occurred to me that a simple wristband could be an awesome #CrushItZone item! Bonus if it could glow in the dark.

About the same time, Audrey asked if I had considered a challenge to start off 2019. Immediately I started thinking of something super complex where points were scored for doing certain activities, but scaled it back to: set a goal for yourself and know that there’s a community cheering you on!

This is how these wristbands came to be. Simple and pairs really well with any smart watch for daily use. It serves as a reminder that we can have big goals and achieve them by showing up and putting in our best!
